Minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran announces that tenders are to be sought for works to Longford Garda Station

2 July 18

Mr. Kevin 'Boxer' Moran, T.D., Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief, was in Longford today where he visited Longford Garda Station.

The Minister said, "I am delighted to be here in Longford today to announce that the OPW are currently preparing to go to tender for works to be carried out at Longford Garda Station.  The works will be undertaken in two Phases.  The first phase will include the construction of a new cell block, custody suite and ancillary accommodation. The second phase will consist of a new Property Evidence Management Store, which is currently under design in liaison with An Garda Síochána".

The Minister went on to say, "This is a much needed project for the town and for An Garda Síochána.  In April this year, I announced details of the restoration and refurbishment of Athlone Garda Station and the acquisition of a site for a new Garda Station in Sligo.  These Garda Stations are much awaited developments for these towns and I am very happy to be associated with them and to be able to say here in Longford today that it too will soon have new and updated Garda station facilities".
