Vacancy - District Inspector in the Office of Public Works

The Office of Public Works (OPW) has responsibility for maintaining the value and condition of the State’s property portfolio, including the conservation, restoration and care of heritage buildings owned and occupied by the State.

The OPW has District Inspector vacancies in its Property Maintenance Services in the following regions -  Western Region (Galway) and Dublin South.  A District Inspector vacancy also exists in OPW Conservation Services which is based in Dublin.

The District Inspector will oversee work programmes in their District within the region and will report to the Regional Architect/Manager.

The successful candidates will have:

  • Competent knowledge of the building trades and Building Regulations
  • Satisfactory experience on building work as Clerk of Works or General Foreman or experience in directing conservation works and craftsmen on conservation projects
  • Demonstrate initiative and innovation and have strong teamworking and interpersonal skills

A panel will be formed from this competition from which vacancies may be filled in other regional offices.
