Dublin's Phoenix Park To Host An Amazing Bikeweek Festival
From 15th - 22nd June, Dublin’s Phoenix Park will play host to a weeklong Bike Festival as part of Bikeweek 2014. There is an amazing array of events taking place, jointly organised by the Dublin Cycling Campaign and the Office of Public Works.
There is literally something for everyone:
SUNDAY 15th
- 12.30pm - 5pm Cargo Bike Championships Great fun events / market stalls /music / prizes / try out a Cargo Bike.... and much more!
- 3pm Bikeweek Festival and Photo Exhibition Launch - Councillor Andrew Montague, representing the Lord Mayor of Dublin, will launch the Festival and the Photo Exhibition ‘Where Will Your Bike Take You?!’ Continuing all week at the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre.
- Photo Competition: Midday Friday 20th June is the deadline for competition entries. Check out http://www.bikeweek.ie/events/dublin/bikeweek-photo-competion and make sure you get yours in on time.
MONDAY 16th to FRIDAY 20th
- Schools events will take place each day with local schools
- 6.30pm Bike Tours: Tours each evening at 6.30pm from Visitor Centre - see websites for tour and registration details
- Free Bike Checks at Phoenix Park Bike Hire. Leave your bike in and get a full bike check. www.facebook.com/PhoenixParkBikeHire
FRIDAY 20th June
- Photo Competition: Midday is the deadline for competition entries.
SATURDAY 21st
- 1.30pm to 5pm Education Day: Road Safety Authority Interactive Shuttle. Chesterfield Avenue – an amazing educational experience and Great Fun! www.rsa.ie/RSA/Road-Safety/Shuttle-Bus
- Adult Cycle Safety Training Think you know how to take to the road on your bike? Take these classes and you will be amazed at what you learn – suitable for all levels of cyclists.
SUNDAY 22nd
- 1.30pm to 5pm Pedal in the Park: Road Safety Authority Interactive Shuttle. Chesterfield Avenue – an amazing educational experience and Great Fun! www.rsa.ie/RSA/Road-Safety/Shuttle-Bus
- Sprocket Rocket children’s cycle training. Let them make their first bike moves – or check their bike skills on the Sprocket Rocket course run by IMBRC.
- 2pm Hoop’ Rolling: Go back to the ‘50s and join in the fun of steering your hoops through the obstacle courses.
- 3pm Two Special Bike Tours: ‘Meet the Fawns’ - experience and learn about the Phoenix Park deer. ‘Landscape and History of the Phoenix Park’
- 4pm High Nelly display and Fun 6 km Cycle. Be part of a ‘Fun’ Cycle around the Park.
- 5pm Photo Competition Prize giving Prize giving - Winners of the Photo competition announced.
