The Office of Public Works (OPW) is delighted to launch the Dublin Castle Christmas Programme 2013 today (27 November 2013). There are lots of exciting activities happening every Saturday and Sunday in the Castle in the weekends leading up to Christmas – the Magic of the Nutcracker, Nutcracker Meet and Greet the Characters, choirs every Saturday and Sunday and much more.
Everyone can explore the beautifully themed Nutcracker themed State Apartments of Dublin Castle with lots of surprises in store. Details as follows:
The Magic of The Nutcracker: Magic Show and Storytelling
You are invited into the magical world of the Nutcracker. Drosselmeyer’s childrens’ magic show takes place each Saturday from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. Children’s storytelling with Clara takes place each Sunday from 12:30pm to 3:30pm.

Character Meet and Greet: Photograph with characters from the Nutcracker
Have your photograph taken with the wonderful Mouse King or Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker

Times: 12 noon to 4pm
Traditional Christmas Market
Enjoy tasty treats every Saturday and Sunday, our Upper Courtyard is transformed into a traditional Christmas market
Location: Upper Courtyard, Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle Craft Fair
Some of Ireland’s finest artists and designers will be in Bedford Hall displaying and selling their work.

There are choirs performing every Saturday and Sunday, under the Christmas tree

There are some charges into the State Apartments but all of the above are free for OPW Heritage Card Holders
Festive Evening Entertainment:
There are free concerts on in the Chapel Royal and the State Apartments Drawing Room on various dates during December – tickets are free but must be booked in advance by emailing dubincastletickets@opw.ie
