OPW announces dates for paid parking at Glendalough Visitor Centre

The OPW today announced the arrangements that will apply during 2018 for the management of the carpark at the popular Glendalough Visitor Centre in Laragh, Co. Wicklow.

With effect from Saturday February 17th, contractors acting on the OPW's behalf will commence the 2018 paid-admission operation of the carpark and will collect €4 per car to use the facility.  Visitors to the Glendalough Visitor Centre will be refunded this charge when they purchase admission to the Centre.

The OPW also confirmed that Tour Operator buses who use the carpark to visit the Centre and the Monastic Site will not be charged for parking; however all other buses will be charged €25 (€15 for minibuses with less than 20 seats and Camper Vans).

These arrangements will apply to Cars and Buses as follows:

 

Cars –

Sat/Sun, Bank Holidays from 17th February to May 27th,

Daily from 26th March to 6th April and for the months of June, July & August.

Sat/Sun, and Bank Holidays from 1st September to 29th October inclusive.

 

Buses –

Sat/Sun, Bank Holidays from 17th March to 29th October and daily for the months of June, July & August.

Notes to Editors

 

Glendalough is an early Christian ecclesiastical settlement which was founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century. Set in a glaciated valley with two lakes, the monastic remains include a superb round tower, stone churches and decorated crosses.  The site is open all year round.
