15 October 19
Minister of State for the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran TD, today visited Rosslare Harbour to view progress on infrastructure being developed as part of Brexit preparedness works.
The OPW purchased a 16 acre site in Rosslare to develop temporary inspection facilities for State agencies pending the construction of permanent facilities within Rosslare Europort. The facilities being provided for 31 October include a public office, two seal check booths, four inspection bays, parking for 38 HGVs, driver facilities and an area for the inspection of live animals.
Minister Moran also visited the ferry terminal where he viewed new offices that have been developed to accommodate additional Revenue staff. The OPW is currently designing the permanent inspection facilities which will be located within the environs of Rosslare Europort and which are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020.
Speaking after his visit, the Minister said “I am delighted with the significant level of progress made to date. The scale of this development is enormous, particularly when you bear in mind the challenging timescales involved. It’s a great credit to all involved and I am satisfied that Rosslare will be fully prepared in the event of a No Deal Brexit”.
