Civil & Structural Engineering Services provide a design, advisory, surveying and supervisory service on construction related matters to various business units of OPW and to other Government Departments. The service is headed by an Assistant Chief Engineer who reports to the Director of Engineering Services.
The engineers in this service operate in a variety of roles, including; full Project Management from inception/design phase through to Construction, Engineering Designer/Adviser, Design team member on the various projects. These projects range in size from small advisory reports to major projects.
The engineering draughtsperson in this service carry out topograpical surveys, prepare tender & construction drawings for building & civil engineering projects.
Engineers in the section are responsible for the design of the engineering aspects of building and civil engineering projects. They also carry out inspections of existing buildings and prepare reports for leasing or purchase of buildings by the Office of Public Works. Technicians in the section carry out topographical survey, prepare tender and construction drawings for building and civil engineering projects. They are also involved in the supervision of projects during the construction stage.
