MINISTER OF STATE DR. MARTIN MANSERGH T.D. TO OPEN THE RDS STUDENT ART AWARDS EXHIBITION 2008, AT DAMER HOUSE, ROSCREA, CO. TIPPERARY.

Dr. Martin Mansergh, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Finance with responsibility for the Office of Public Works today announced that he will open the travelling exhibition of the RDS Student Arts Awards in Damer House, Roscrea next Monday 6th October at 6.30pm.

Speaking about the opening Minister Mansergh said “The RDS Student Art Awards, along with the travelling exhibition of which they are part, signify the best in emerging Irish art.  Here we are confronted by the most innovative work being produced in our art colleges and thus see something of the future as students – both young and ‘mature’ – work in media of all kinds.  The exhibition is comprised of winners and judges’ choices of excellence from the RDS Student Art Awards and I am greatly looking forward to seeing the work, which I know to be of a very high calibre, on display”.
