19-07-2012 Revised Arrangements to tours of Áras an Uachtaráin

PRESS RELEASE
The Office of Public Works (OPW) wish to advise that tours of Áras an Uachtaráin, which take place each Saturday, will be subject to revision due to essential maintenance works. There will be no access to the state rooms in the main house while these works are in progress. Tour access to the Gardens will be unaffected.
The works are taking place as a consequence of our important heritage buildings. The electrical installations in Áras an Uachtaráin were surveyed and part of the installation in the Áras was found to be in a relatively poor state. Remedial work was required to address this situation.
In consultation with the Áras authorities, the programme for these works has been structured so as to allow for the operational requirements of Áras an Uachtaráin. Works will commence in the State Rooms after the last scheduled function at the end of July. It is anticipated that all works will be completed by 7th September.
Visitors who wish to take part in the Saturday tours of Áras an Uachtaráin are advised to check in advance on the arrangements in place for their chosen day.
