Tender Documents issued for 2nd Phase of the Clonmel Flood Relief Scheme incorporating Clonmel North & East Schemes

Tuesday 16th March 2010

PRESS RELEASE

Tender Documents issued for 2nd Phase of the Clonmel Flood Relief Scheme incorporating Clonmel North and East Schemes

Dr. Martin Mansergh TD, Minister of State at the Department of Finance with responsibility for the Office of Public Works today announced that the tender documents for the 2nd phase of the Clonmel Flood Relief Scheme have issued to a short list of Civil Engineering Contractors.  The tenders are due back on 7th  May when they will be assessed.

The 1st phase of the Clonmel Relief Works (Clonmel West Scheme) started in April 2008 and the civil works are currently being completed with some mechanical and electrical works going on into the summer.

It is envisaged that this phase will commence in Summer 2010 and it is expected that the works will be completed around the middle of 2012.

The Minister is confident that when all phases of the flood relief scheme have been completed, Clonmel will have been provided with a fully effective flood defence system which will greatly benefit the people of Clonmel.
