Temporary Closure of St. Stephen’s Green Playground

Thursday 4th March 2010

PRESS RELEASE

The Office of Public Works wish to announce that the playground in St Stephen's Green will close temporarily on the 18th March 2010. This is to allow for the construction and fitting out of a completely new play facility. The new playground will be designed to meet the needs of the many children and families that use the current play area.

The current playground in St. Stephen’s Green has been in place for over 20 years and is now in need of upgrading. Included in the new playground will be three extra sets of swings including a new set optimised for children with disabilities. There will also be extra play units to cater for children aged between 2 and 5 years old. Extra climbing frames will be provided as well as a new playhouse for small children. OPW will also be installing a new play surface, as the current one is in need of modernisation.

It is anticipated that the new playground will be open by the end of May 2010, in time for the summer holidays.

The Office of Public Works regrets any inconvenience caused to members of the public.

Ends.
