Consultation at Preliminary Design Stage of a Flood Relief Scheme

Information notes on consultation processes at Preliminary Design Stage of a Flood Relief Scheme

During the course of preparing a flood relief scheme, the Commissioners of Public Works commission an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) or other ecological or environmental studies that are relevant to the proposed works or are required by law. At the early stages of preparing this report, a Public Information Day (PID) is held in the relevant area by the Environmental Consultants. The purpose of this day is to invite and gather any local information / data which might be relevant to the proposed flood relief works so that this information can be taken into account when designing the scheme. A second PID is held before the EIS is finalised to again allow local residents / bodies to comment on the preferred scheme design and relevant environmental matters. Both of these PID's are advertised in local newspapers and radio.
